Create. Connect. Collaborate.
Education Technology
Educational Technology emphasizes communication skills and approches teaching and learning through the use of diverse media. My #1 goal as an educator is to instill creative confidence in students and introduce 21st century skills they will need in order to succeed in the information age. I believe creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking are the foundation skills needed in order to solve real world problems.
Working in a technology rich and forward thinking school allowed me the opprotunity to experiment with emerging technologies and connect with like minded educators through social media.
Social Media
The way we communicate and distribute information has changed drastically since the creation of numerous social media tools. I believe social media is an increasingly important way to distribute real time content, connect with a broad audience, receive feedback, create meaningful relationships with customers and increase brand awareness.
Wordpress
A co-worker and I created and designed Hawker because we kept seeing amazing work created by our middle school students that wasn't being shared outside individual classrooms. Hawker is an all-digital space where middle school students write and share articles on life in middle school.
As faculty moderator of Hawker, I created and implemented a positive thinking campaign that was designed to highlight the positive characteristics of each individual student. Students positive responses about their classmates, submitted via a Google Form, where then turned into a unique keepsake for the "Be Awesome" student of the day.
Photography
Photography allows me the creative outlet to show people the world through my eyes. To me, photography is the art of observation. I believe, as our lives become more mobile, visual elements of digital content is an important component of any marketing strategy and a perfect way to conect to current and future customers.
